Un mort et un blessé grave dans un accident de travail sur le port de La Rochelle

Un accident du travail s’est produit ce vendredi après-midi au port de commerce de La Rochelle, sur le site de la société Socomac. Un homme a perdu la vie, un autre ouvrier est gravement blessé.

L’accident s’est produit ce vendredi en début d’après-midi,  au port de commerce de La Rochelle, sur le site du groupe céréalier Socomac, filiale du groupe Soufflet. Plusieurs ouvriers, salariés du sous-traitant saintais A6 Services, travaillaient sur un tapis de convoyage des céréales. Ils procédaient à l’installation de palans, une opération préparatoire à une intervention de réparation prévue lundi.Aux alentours de 12 h 50, le contrepoids d’une tonne qui sert à tendre la bande du convoyeur s’est détaché. En contrebas, il est tombé sur une passerelle où se trouvaient deux ouvriers d’A6 Services. Un homme d’une soixantaine d’années a perdu la vie. Un autre ouvrier a été éjecté par-dessus le garde-corps, il souffre de sérieuses blessures, au dos notamment.
25 sapeurs-pompiers ont été engagés sur les lieux de l’accident, pour prendre en charge les victimes et établir un périmètre de sécurité. La police et l’inspection du travail se sont également rendues sur place. Le parquet de La Rochelle a été saisi.« Une cellule d’accompagnement psychologique a été mise en place à la Maison du port pour soutenir les collègues et les témoins de ce drame », indique le maire de La Rochelle, Thibaut Guiraud, qui précise que « la Ville reste attentive à la situation et se tient aux côtés de toutes les personnes touchées par cette tragédie ».Sur le site de la société Socomac, le dernier accident de travail mortel s’était produit en décembre 2015. Un homme de 29 ans avait perdu la vie en déplaçant une nacelle. Plus récemment, en octobre 2023, un agent d’entretien âgé de 20 ans avait perdu la vie alors qu’il travaillait dans l’un des silos à grains du groupe Sica Atlantique, à La Rochelle.
